Our mission is to care for pets in a way that supports our community—neighbors helping neighbors through safe, enrichment-focused in-home pet care, with clear updates and Sidekicks who show up like family.
Proof In Action
Our Year 5 goal is to invest even deeper in Sidekick education—safety, enrichment, and clear care standards—so every visit raises the bar for pet care in our area, because neighbors helping neighbors is what we do. Over the years, we’ve put that mission into action by creating rescue bags for adoption events (and donating extras to local shelters), rallying sitters and clients to donate supplies for the Hurricane Helene relief effort, and offering Sidekicks paid volunteer time (up to two hours per month) at a local shelter.
Meet Our Team
Holly Merkel
Owner/Administrator
Holly is the former teacher turned “Head Sidekick” behind Pet Care Club of Lake Norman–Concord. With her husband, two daughters, and their rescue cats + poodles in the mix, she keeps schedules humming and tails wagging with enrichment, consistency, and lots of heart across Lake Norman, Concord, and North Charlotte. Pet Tech CPR & First Aid Certified.
Jerry Merkel
Owner/Administrator
Jerry handles the not-so-fluffy side of the business — from payroll and insurance to all the legal bits that keep Pet Care Club of Lake Norman-Concord running smoothly. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Spanish, and an MBA in Marketing, he brings strategy, structure, and steady support to the Club.
Melinda
Care Companion Sidekick
Melinda is a caring, compassionate Sidekick who brings a gentle touch to pets of all ages. She has a special heart for both the young and the older pets who need a little extra patience, comfort, and understanding. With her warm presence and thoughtful care, Melinda helps pets feel safe, supported, and loved every step of the way. Melinda is Pet Tech CPR & First Aid Certified.

Care Companion Sidekick
Lisa T is a detail-loving daytime Sidekick who believes in doing things right and keeping clients in the loop. Originally from Charleston, she brings thoughtful care, clear communication, and a special soft spot for Yorkies to every visit. She pays attention to the little things, follows routines closely, and makes sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

Director of Pack Recruitment
As Director of Pack Recruitment, she carefully scouts, interviews, and welcomes new sitters into our “clubhouse.” With a professional yet personal touch, she ensures every new team member shares our values of compassion, reliability, and top-notch pet care. Abby is passionate about connecting people who love animals with families who need trusted, dependable support.
Lindsay
Care Companion Sidekick
Lindsay is a warm and dependable Sidekick who helps pets feel cozy, cared for, and right at home during their overnight “Slumber Paw-ties.” With a loving heart and attention to detail, she makes sure every pet feels safe, settled, and snuggled in while their families are away.

Care Companion Sidekick
Dallas is our go-to guy for daytime visits — whether it’s a power walk with a big dog or a check-in with a little lap pup. Known as our Big Dog Bestie, he brings calm confidence and quiet patience to every visit, helping pets feel safe, understood, and loved. Dallas is Pet Tech CPR & First Aid Certified.

Judy
Care Companion Sidekick
With a heart full of purrs and pockets full of treats, Judy is our resident cat whisperer. A lifelong cat lover and proud Certified Cat Lady™, she has a sixth sense for understanding even the sassiest of kitties. Whether it’s a shy senior or a curious kitten, cats simply gravitate toward Judy’s calm, caring energy. Judy is Pet Tech CPR & First Aid Certified.

Community Coordinator/Sidekick
Known for her gentle way with little dogs and her passion for connecting with fellow pet lovers, Tammy is a true ambassador for our furry friends in the community. You’ll often find her at local festivals, adoption events, or hosting fun pet-centered gatherings!

Care Companion Sidekick
With 20 years of veterinary technician experience, Lisa brings unmatched expertise and precision to our Club. Her sharp eye for detail and calm professionalism give both pets and parents peace of mind. Known for her charming British accent and steady approach, Lisa is always on top of every care routine, from medications to the smallest health cues.
Allysen
Care Companion Sidekick
Allysen is perfect for shy kitties, seniors, and anxious pups. Her quiet, calm, and big, generous heart helps even the most nervous noses relax. Expect slow introductions, soothing routines, and those extra “I noticed” touches—like soft voices, gentle pacing, and cozy check-ins—that make pets feel safe and seen. With Allysen, pets settle, parents exhale, and the home feels a little more peaceful.

At Pet Care Club LNC, being a Care Companion Sidekick means being part of a team that supports our pets, clients, and community with dependable, thoughtful care. This role takes strong time management, clear communication, follow-through, and the ability to work through changing schedules, pet parent directions, and all kinds of weather. We also value Sidekicks who are willing to keep learning and grow their pet care knowledge through continued education and training. It is meaningful work, but it is not easy work, and we are looking for people who take pride in doing it right.
